LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Los Angeles Clippers fired general manager Mike Dunleavy on Tuesday, a month after he relinquished his head coaching role.

"The organization has determined that the goal of building a winning team is best served by making this decision at this time," the Clippers said in a statement on their website (www.nba.com/clippers).

"The team has simply not made sufficient progress during Dunleavy's seven-year tenure. The Clippers want to win now."

Assistant general manager Neil Olshey will assume Dunleavy's duties. Dunleavy, who had also been the team's head coach since 2003, resigned that role on February 4.

The Clippers are 12th in the Western conference with a 25-39 record and with a 113-87 loss at Orlando on Tuesday are mired in a four-game losing skid.
