Dillon Enters Governors Race

LANSING (WKZO) -- House Speaker Andy Dillon is the latest democrat to formally jump into the race for governor. He made the formal announcement in Redford Township, his hometown yesterday But Dillon’s attempts to reach across the aisle have angered some in his own party.

Recent polls show only about a third of all democrats know his name. That’s still better than the other 2 democrats, Rep. Alma-Wheeler-Smith and Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero, but lower than some of the GOP hopefuls. One advantage to being speaker is he may have an easier time raising money. One disadvantage is he has to run on his record and right now Lansing politicians aren’t too popular.
