Hummer To Be Phased Out

INDIANA (WKZO) -- It looks like GM won’t be selling the Hummer brand after all. A Chinese firm that manufactures heavy equipment had a bid in to buy Hummer, but the Chinese Government is refusing to approve the deal, and it’s been declared dead. GM Spokesperson Nick Richards says they are beginning an orderly wind down of operations. He says they plan to keep their options open until they do shut it down.

They assemble the H-2 in Mishawaka just south of the Indiana/Michigan Border and they were hoping the Chinese owners would keep the plant open, but it appears that won’t happen now.

That news comes just as it was announced that the sale of Saab by General Motors has been finalized. The company announced Tuesday it reached a deal to sell the brand to Dutch automaker Spyker Cars NV for 74-million dollars in cash and 326-million dollars in preferred stock.
